The Klu-Klux-Klan was a white supremacist group that opposed “Reconstruction” and equal rights for freed slaves (Hook Exercise). They, to my standards, really would do whatever it takes to stop Reconstruction, even if it meant killing innocent people for that. John W. Stephens, a former senator from Caswell, was brutally murdered by none other than the Klu-Klux-Klan in a Grand Jury room (Doc. A Par.1). John W. Stephens was stabbed five to six times then even hanged on a hook in the same jury room.
The KKK was flourishing because they got a new founder, then they got a new leader and that is when they took off. They believe in White and christian supremacy. They thought that everyone had to be christian, and they believed that blacks did not deserve to do the same thing as the whites to any degree. What they did is hung and beat people who were their targets. Also they broke windows with bricks and burned the houses of the targets.
Due to the ratification of the amendments, many southern elites could not stand the fact that African Americans were freed. One solution that was developed was to destroy reconstruction by murdering Black Americans. The Ku Klux Klan was then formed, this group consisted of vindictive Confederate Army veterans. Sought out to be heros to many southern democrats, but a nightmare for African American families. The Ku Klux Klan terrorized many African American families, burned down churches, drove thousands of families out of their homes, and caused great mayhem.
“ Mockingbirds don’t do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat uppeople’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee 119). Tom Robinson, a minor yet importantcharacter, is indirectly described as a mockingbird throughout the whole book, since he waskilled for entertainment purposes and not because of the crime he was guilty of, when he wastruly innocent. He did not do one thing but be honest, but his skin color made the people thinkotherwise (Gladwell).
This document shows what the Ku Klux Klan is. The Ku Klux Klan (or KKK) was a white supremacy group, that used violent steps to undermine the republican party and prevent equality for African Americans. This shows how Reconstruction failed because African Americans were still treated very unfairly, even when they were not
The KKK hated and mistreated all who were different from there ideals, constantly pushing there ways of thinking on others. They terrorized many groups including immigrants, blacks, Jews, Catholics, etc. The KKK terrorized many groups with intimidation, going to African american schools and setting bombs off, set churches and schools to fire, leaching their teachers. Marching through parades and rallies to prove there points. They were known to burned crosses on civilian properties and hills of neighborhoods to install fear.
The story “To Kill a Mockingbird” connects with the Ku Klux Klan because in the book they were enforcing actions against african-americans. The Ku Klux Klan would blame these black men for things that they didn’t even do and that 's what they did to Tom Robinson in the book. A girl named Mayella convinced everyone that Tom had raped her, when he really didn 't. The whole jury sentenced tom to jail and everyone thought he was guilty besides atticus. The Ku Klux Klan would convince all these white people that blacks were so bad and how they do horrible things when really it was the white people doing
The Ku Klux Klan or KKK has created centuries of fear. They originated in Pulaski, Tennessee. The famous hate group was out to re establish white supremacy. The KKK has influenced local governments and people in power. It has also had an impact on American people and specifically black minorities.
The KKK was a group that killed or terrorized any african american or republican, for the sheer fact that they were either not white or not democrat, or both. The impact itself on southerners made them results to even much more violent and chaotic ways than
The Klu Klux Klan was very significant and important for many reasons. The organizations primary goal of the Klan was to destroy the Republican Party as revenge for the abolition of slavery and for having a hand in the federal occupation and restructuring of the South. This was achieved by harassing and, if necessary, murdering registered Republican voters. Political murders by the Klan numbered in the thousands, many of the victims being black. Klan members often murdered black political leaders, heads of black religious institutions and any other black individual who had ties to a political organization.
The Ku Klux klan was a group of white terrorist who would kill blacks to promote whites. They were founded in 1865 and are still around
The Klu Klux Klan was a terrorist clan that consisted of the white elite or white plantation owners. This terrorist group started in 1865 and was a hate group for many different communities. The KKK was considered as a secret society who did their own form of oppression to the black community. Thankfully the government stepped in and the 3 enforcement acts was enforced. The 3 enforcement acts restricted the klan which was a huge success.
The Ku Klux Klan, made up of former Confederate officers who idealized an antebellum Southern heritage, became folk heroes by terrorizing outsiders who challenged race relations by assisting blacks. Catholics, foreigners, former slaves, and their sympathizers were targeted for wanting to push reforms that went against the Southern way of life. As one historian points out, the KKK gained sympathy because they were seen as defenders and policemen of the people who protected the prevailing values of society, including Protestantism, whiteness, and genteel southern culture (Kinshasa 15). The KKK and its sister organizations were even sponsored by state governments, such as Kentucky and Mississippi, as a police force to maintain the status quo (Parsons 160). The presence of the Klan and other forms of white resistance offered white residents a form of security during this uncertain time period.
The Ku Klux Klan is a hate group known for the terrorizing of the people and riding around on horseback in white sheets at night. Most people believe the hate of of the Ku Klux Klan was directed entirely towards the black freed people. Though Freedmen's Bureau agents reported 336 cases of murder or assault with intent to kill on freedmen across the state from January 1 through November 15 of 1868. These deaths were caused by lynching, cross burning, rape and other heinous crimes committed by this southern white supremacist group. This is the short history of the Ku Klux Klan, how they started, and their history up to this date and time.
From 1868 through the early 1870s the Ku Klux Klan functioned as a loosely organized group of political and social terrorists. The Klan’s goals included the political defeat of the Republican Party and the maintenance of absolute white supremacy in response to newly gained civil and political rights by Southern blacks after the Civil War. At first it was formed as a social club for Confederate soldiers after the war, but it soon progressed to be one of the biggest terror groups in American history. Most Klan action was designed to intimidate black voters and white
