In the 1930’s to 1940’s there have been many leaders. But only two stand out to me the most. Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. They were both leaders who lead their countries to become greater and overcome what has happened to the economy and everything else. In this essay, it will show the differences and alikeness between the two. Both of the leaders used propaganda to influence what they wanted to be done and what they believed they wanted to happen. In the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin wished for his country to be strong and he led his country to become just that. The government took control of all economic activity, they owned all businesses and distributed all resources, and they developed an command economy, in which government officials made all basic economic decisions. While the Soviet Union was growing on its own, so was Germany. Adolf Hitler was a German army veteran of an extremist party. He went to Germany to fight in the German army during World War 1 and when he came home, Germany was on the brink of absolute chaos. In the Soviet Union, the citizens weren’t in good shape either. The economy was bad and the standard of living remained low. Central planning was often inefficient, causing shortages in some areas and surpluses in others. Wages were low and workers were forbidden to strike.
