Softball can be played and explained into two different ways. Softball can be described as a slow pitch and a fastpitch sport. Slowpitch and fastpitch softball are similar in many things but have several differences. For these softball teams, each of them plays on a diamond shaped field with four bases. Also, two teams play against each other to see who will win. There has to be a minimum of nine players per team. As well as a number of players, the size of the ball has to be the same. On the other hand, there are big differences between slowpitch and fastpitch. For slowpitch, there is an equal amount of boys and girls, but for fastpitch, there are only girls on the team because if you watch a game for slow pitch the boys can hit harder and farther than a regular girl can. Even though it’s normal when you hear the word softball you think of straight line pitching. Well, that is what softball is but only for fastpitch. Slowpitch has an arch shaped pitching style. The ball is tossed up in an arch motion and when it comes down it should be crossing the plate. Each style can be easily handled by any batter. When a team gets a home run normally they can get as many as they want; however, slowpitch doesn’t handle it like this. For each game, during a slow pitch, each team gets up to three home runs than they have to take outs for each one. When watching professional baseball one can see all the protection the players wear to protect them from getting injured. Same thing goes for fastpitch softball, but it doesn’t mean the same for slowpitch. As for catchers, slowpitch doesn’t wear any protection because of the pitching as for fastpitch the ball comes in at forty or more miles per
