Even though South was determined and bold; The North was able to wear the confederates down because of their leaders who had a strategic plan and clear concept of war to take in prisoners and win for the sake of freedom. The essential concept of war for the Unions meant to free the prisoner slaves and restore the balance and freedom to the country they had fought from the British.
In Cold Blood features the true story and details of the bloody murders of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas. “Images in the film Brooks has made from Capote’s celebrated reporting of a Kansas murder case, In Cold Blood” (Crowther). One early morning in Holcomb Kansas, the Clutter family is awaken from their sleep and brutally murdered. The killers are two ex-convicts Dick Hickock and Perry Smith who planned to rob Herbert Clutter of $10,000 that was contained in a safe at his home. However, Dick and Perry find no safe, or $10,000, they end up leaving the scene of the crime with only $43.
According to chapter five in “Cop in the Hood” written by Peter Moskos, he points out various reason how 911 is a joke and how calling 911 is not any help to the community. Whenever there is a drug incident in the community the patrol officers totally ignore the situation. And even if the patrol officer does address the situation the patrol officer never handle the drug dealers correctly. For instance, Moskos mentioned that a resident of the neighborhood saw three youth out on a late school night doing what seemed to be suspicious business on the corner and which lead the resident to call 911 on the youths. When 911 arrived at the scene, they instantly began to harass the three young men.

The narrator describes the Clutters life through the events of their last day alive. Perry Smith and Dick Hickock murder the family late that night. They flee after the murder and make it to Mexico.

In the documentary Making a Murder, Brendan Dassey, nephew of Stephen Avery, gave a testimony that implicated himself and Avery in the murder of Teresa Halback (Demos, Ricciardi, 2015). In Nothing But the Truth there is one thing that stood out to me throughout the entire book. The whole book is full of lies. Philip Malloy tells lies about everything and to everyone. He lies to his parents, the principal, and even to a reporter that is interviewing him. Throughout the book we continue to see the lies play out until the very end of the book when Philip finally decides to tell the truth.
There is nothing one would not do for someone who is genuinely a friend. In the short story by Andre Dubus, “Killings,” Willis aids his best friend, Matt, in organizing and murdering the man who killed Matt’s son, Frank. Willis is drawn to this act of murder out of devotion to his friendship with Matt and his desire to see justice done to the killer which reveals that humans have a tendency to do whatever it takes for family or loved ones before what is morally right or wrong. Many people would not do certain actions without motivation from those around them. Willis functions in this short story to aid and motivate Matt in the murder of Richard Strout after he shot and murdered Frank.
Overall the character development and viewpoints were carefully thought out and without the minor details being picked out above the characters were portrayed

Most of the Golden Age writers are British, however, in America the genre of ‘Hard-Boiled’ fiction is dominant. In this age, the major theme is ‘whodunit’ or the ‘clue puzzles’ in which the reader solves the mystery of a codified game.
