The movie and novel share multiple similarities and many differences. The novel tells a story of a spy that gives information away and finds himself in danger. The movie depicts politicians and members of the United States army trying to resolve a mishap that ends up putting the world into a nuclear holocaust. Both the movie and the novel deal with ethical dilemmas of the superpower struggle.
