There are many heroes in many stories but not a single one compares to how the epic hero Odysseus. The Odyssey is by the famous poet Homer is a fiction story about a king who is coming back from War and the quest back takes 20 years. Odysseus is an epic hero because he has done many heroic acts and his Larger than Life quality is his intelligence. Many people share the argument that Odysseus is not a hero but there's parts of the story that make me disagree. The part is when Odysseus and his men get trapped in the Cyclops cave and Odysseus has to use his larger than life quality to save them.
Most people will say that Odysseus is a hero, but in many ways he is not a hero in any way. In the Odyssey, Odysseus goes on a long journey. Through that journey he encounters many challenges. In almost every bump in his road, somebody ended up dead or hurt because of Odysseus.
I believe that Odysseus is a hero because he displays many heroic characteristics. In Odyssey by Homer the main character Odysseus displays many heroic qualities on his journey. Odysseus and his men struggle to find their way home after being cursed by the gods. Odysseus’ heroic qualities shine on his journey back from the siege on Troy. “I drove them, all three wailing, to the ships, tied them down under their rowing
It also proves that he thinks that he is a better person than everyone else. Some people may argue that Odysseus is a hero. There is evidence of this when he is trapped on the island of the Cyclops. It is shown that he is a hero when he says “I drew it from the coals and my four fellows gave me a hand, lugging it near the Cyclops as more than natural force nerved them; straight forward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it deep in his crater eye.” (9,

Usually nobody thinks about how these heroes in their everyday action, after a while they slowly become this heroic act. That is all people know about them and that’s all that they want to know. However, people who perform heroic acts aren’t always heros. In The Odyssey, Odysseus may have done a few honorable things here and there, but in this case he was not known for these. He
A hero is someone who protects and sacrifices for the people who can not do that for themselves. A hero is brave and courteous, and makes decisions to benefit the greater good, even if it means taking the short end of the stick for one’s self. Odysseus is a largely dynamic character that undergoes many hardships and obstacles that test his abilities and his morals. After being taken from his family, Odysseus embarks on a harrowing journey with more than its fair share of anguish, suffering, and sorrow. Although Odysseus acheived his dream of returning home in the end, the unfaithful and deceitful path that he walked to do so stripped him of all heroic qualities while also sacrificing the life of every man in his crew.
In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus should be considered a hero! Odysseus has done more good deeds than bad deeds throughout the years of the Odyssey. Odysseus has saved lives more than he has taken them for no good reason. Odysseus has honored people more than dishonored people. Today’s hero code is completely different than in Odysseus’s time.
When reading the Odyssey, it’s hard not to be captivated by the thrilling story. Even today, it’s easy to see that Odysseus has every heroic trait there is. But what made him a hero to the ancient Greeks? The reason is that ‘The Great Odysseus’ had competence, godlike capabilities, and he was determined to be righteous and victorious, regardless of the cost.
Odysseus is a hero because all of the suitors were invading his home when Telemachus and Penelope did not like it. In The Odyssey, Odysseus and Telemachus fought every single suitor until they were all dead. This shows Odysseus is a hero because it is what everyone wanted, is the suitors to leave. Also in The Odyssey, when Penelope heard Odysseus was home she was filled with joy and fainted from so much excitement. This shows Odysseus is a hero because Penelope was saved by him and now he has returned back home to her.
This is truly remarkable and heroic. After years of being apart from his family, Odysseus prevails during all of his experiences. As a character, he is a hero through his acts of audaciousness, having tactical acumen, and being altruistic. First, Odysseus is fearless when he disregards Eurylochus’ advice not to disembark the ship. This is not something a coward would do, but only a hero.
After 20 years he finally makes it home to his wife and they live a happy life. Odysseus, in most cases can be described as a hero. Odysseus is a hero because he is smart and thinks things through. One point he shows his smarts is when he thinks of the trojan horse. “See now what the bold man did and dared in the Wooden Horse, where we all were hidden, the best men of the army, to bring death and ruin upon Troy!”
