The Storyteller, by Dave Grohl, is a biased but entertaining memoir that takes us through many emotions during the journey of his music career. Dave Grohl is the former drummer for Nirvana and is the singer for the Foo Fighters. The book was written because he wanted to tell the story of how he became successful, and that good things take time. He also explained that when he was bored during the COVID lockdown in 2020, he had nothing better to do than to write a book about his life. I chose this book because I enjoy listening to the Foo Fighters and Nirvana. I was enticed in the story behind how the band came to be, and the struggles that came along with it. Dave Grohl was in multiple bands before Nirvana. He was in a band with his friends called “Dain Bramage” and was soon discovered by other bands. He dropped out of high school because he felt he did not belong in school, and he was offered a drumming position in another band called “Scream.” After that, he was then in Nirvana, which quickly gained popularity in the nineties. He formed the Foo Fighters after Nirvana had come to a halt. The whole book goes into depth about his own life, and since it is a memoir, he explains it himself, so there are no secondary sources. This also means that the book itself is a primary source. Throughout the book, there are pictures of him and his various bands, along with his family, which fit the description of the storyline. One picture was of him and his bandmates on a poster advertising “Scream,” making these pictures primary sources. I think Grohl was qualified to draft this book because he was the one experiencing the stories he is telling. He speaks about his life through his own words, and the book goes in detail about his journey through the music
