Warriors of God a 33-chapter book tells the story about the Third Crusade that occurred in 1187-1192. The author of the book James Reston Jr gives the reader insight about what has happened in the Third Crusade. From varies detail and scene we the reader can feel what he was saying. The author gave life to the reader. In his content, he gave each chapter a name. He also told about what group of people was involved. At first, I was a little confused about the order in which he was doing, such as Reston would use each man point of view every two chapters and then return to the other. He stayed very persistent with this. I enjoy being able to visualize each place he named such as Tyre, Acre and Jerusalem. He added maps that noted the Crusade pilgrimage to the Holy land with cities, rivers, and port. I assume because Muslims regained Jerusalem back. In this story, he tells of the time when King Richard had 20,000 Muslims executed and Muslim leader Saladin had many Christian prisoners beheaded. Each man did and eye for and eye deal. Even in our time Saladin is a hero in the eyes of the Islamic world. He is remembered not just for capturing Jerusalem for the Islam, but for his humanity, his tenderness, and how he keeps under control. According to Reston he describes Saladin as a remarkable leader who united Egypt and Syria. Saladin made the first move to recapture Jerusalem, King Richard is remembered for fearfulness, smart and overdoing. He was a charming but tough leader.
