The Valentine Road is about an eighth-grade student Brandon McInerney shot his classmate Lawrence King (Larry King) twice in the back of his head during his computer class. Two days later on Valentine's Day, Larry died.

According to the Agnew strain theory, I think the strain that play a large role for both Larry and Brandon was the presentation of the negative stimulus. Larry grew up with his adopted parents. There were signs of abuse from his adopted because at school he had bruises all over his skin. The school tried to take him out, but there was nothing they could do. So, he was sent to Casa Pacifica because his adopted parents reported that he stole food from their refrigerator. Also, his adopted parents struggle with Larry orientation because he was gay. Also, they did not show Larry any affection. He was bullied at school by the students because he would come to school with heels, makeup and jewelry. All of these negativity presented on him had an affect on his life. It was probably hard for him to fit in school because he was different from the other kids in the school. …show more content…

His family took crystal meth and were addicts and alcoholics. Brandon father was physically abusive towards his mother. Once, his father shot his mother in the arm “by accident.” His mother was always using drugs, she used methamphetamine while she was pregnant with Brandon. His brothers were involved with drugs. Brandon was an white supremacist and had friends who were as well. When Larry went to Brandon to ask him to be a valentine and dressed up as a girl influenced his actions towards Larry. Brandon was presented with all negative things which may have affect the choices he
