One of the consequences of World War I within American and Mexican music industry was prioritizing popular national music over other genres such as Tejano. However, this type of music had a new boom in post-war decades as a consequence of the improvement of socioeconomic opportunities. New music styles such as female-based duet and the orquesta tejana came up as well the re-emergence of conjunto music occurred. Guadalupe San Miguel Jr. discusses the significant role the businessmen Armando Marroquin and Paco Betancourt played promoting Tejano music. Their company Discos Ideal favored Tejano music was recorded by several local artists from Texas such as Valerio Longorio, Paulino Bernal, and Beto Villa among others.

Leadership skills can be very hard to learn. You always have to have a positive attitude when leading someone else to do better. Whether it’s the country or a group of slaves you have to be encouraging to others to be the best they can. During the Civil War Harriet Tubman led groups of fugitive slaves to freedom. These journeys were trying and tough, but Harriet was always encouraging and inspiring to her the slaves.
Leadership is a joint effort by both the people and the leader and should be treated as such. With this collaborativeness we can successfully work as a nation just as the Leadership video stated. “Leadership provides people with a sense of security. Good leaders work with the people and ensure that they are safe…” (Source G) Understanding that the people come first and that all should work together is the first step to a properly functioning society.
According to Ashleigh Lutz “Not only do electives help students develop their skills and better understand themselves, but they also help students better understand the world around them. ”The school board is taking away the computer science, cooking, and music electives. The reason is that there is a money shortage in the school board where they can't afford the electives. There are beneficial advantages associated with music. Students who take a music elective perform better in school than students who do not take the elective.
“Leadership Jazz - The Essential Elements of a Great Leader” written by Max De Pree, an executive of the board of directors of Herman Miller, is not a technical book which includes cumbersome articles about the most proficient method to sort out oneself, to lead more productive gatherings or to employ a team. Rather, Max de Pree clarifies his vision of what it is to be a leader step by step, drawing on the significant experience he had while being the CEO of Herman Miller. Moreover, it is also not a handbook or a study guide; rather it is more like advice of an insightful grandfather, who attempts to pass on a part of the experience of a lifetime to the younger generation. It is really a motivational book that starts by observing leadership through a musical metaphor. After looking at the book’s title, table of contents and reading the Introduction, it is clear that the writer sets the theme of his book by contrasting his favored style of leadership with the operations of a jazz band.
Costa Rica is such a diverse country. With an array of different ecosystems and a mixture of people with roots from all over, it is no surprise that the music has just as much diversity. Costa Rica has plenty of influences on their music: Indigenous, European, African, Western, and other Latin American countries. Therefore, music in Costa Rica stems from various genres because of the many influences from other cultures. Traditional Costa Rican music relies heavily on the indigenous, European, and African influences that are shown within Costa Rica’s own demographics.
And just as a composer can build a proper structure to their song with their sound, a leader can lay the framework for their world’s future with their own voice. By taking on leadership roles such as being president of environmental club and public relations of class council, I am a mentor to others all while sharing the same interests and providing opportunities for them to build their own character. Prior to this school year, I was fortunate enough to attend a weeklong event called Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, where I lived there for a week surrounded by young leaders from all over south jersey. In this experience, I learned that being a leader means being understanding of others and their situations. With this experience I was able to bring back what I learned to my own communities like environmental club. Not only do I have to be organize and communicative, but I also have to be a role model to members of a club by showing my own good character.
The program will be directed toward at-risk students, but will be open to anyone and everyone. The program will provide a way to get kids engaged in something that is healthy for their minds and will keep them off of the streets. In a day and age where most families simply cannot afford to purchase an instrument or pay for expensive lessons, the PVC Youth Orchestra program will put forward an opportunity for students to explore and learn music.
I attended to a concert performed by the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra on November 13th this year. This concert took place in the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. I chose to attend to this concert because I have never been to a performance by any youth orchestra, I was curious to see how their performance would compare to other orchestras. The first of the three piece that were performed in this concert was Maenads’ Dance, from The Bassarids, composed by Hans Werner Henze. A variety of instruments were used in this piece, including woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings.

In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others.
