Emily Matchar states that some people still feel that parenting and household work is still "women's work" (Matchar, 2013). Matchar (2013) also stated that some of these individuals still believe that women are "inherently" better at raising children. In regards to the woman’s work belief, I am arguing that feminism is not about what a woman cannot do, it is about what women can do. Feminism is based on the belief that women should have equal rights and chances in choosing what she wants to do and become. If she wants to become a housewife then she can, but she should have to make that decision based on other’s cultural expectations. Also, I believe that people confuse the word “inherent” with socialization. Women are continuously socialized to be mothers, most of their toy deal with child-rearing (Esposito, …show more content…

So, what most people view and inborn is typically socialization. Child-rearing might be socially adjusted to assume that women are better at raising children, but this is only because stay-at-home dad is still relatively new—with time society will change to accommodate both women and men stay-at-home parents. In Anne-Marie Slaughter (2012) article, she states that women cannot have it all, and I agree. But, why do we expect them women to have it all when we do not expect men to have it all. Slaughter (2012) also acknowledges that men who chooses their career over spending time with their family are not considered selfish, yet when women do the same they are considered selfish by societal standards. It not about having it all, it about choosing what is best for you, and it is about women having the same opportunity that is afforded to men to achieve she wants.
