Writing about the novel: Compassion is sympathetic pity and concern for others. Kit was loyal to Prudence. Kit taught her how to read and write and didn’t give her away at the trial. Kit was loyal to the Wood family. When they were ill Kit would take care of them and their home.

Read and Write: Margot and Kit were a lot alike, both experienced similar things. Margot and Kit were both the fish out of water. They both had to move somewhere, they were both outcasts and both of them were not trusted. Kit moved from Barbados to a small town in Connecticut because her grandfather died and she was being forced into marriage. Margot moved from Ohio on Earth to Venus. Kit was different than the people in Connecticut, Kit wore fancy bright clothes and grew up in royalty. People in Connecticut wore drabby dull clothes and spent their time working and doing chores.
