Examples within the text helped me determine, understand, and relate to the theme. From the very start of the story the narrator and writer, Amy, gave us clues on whom or what she was trying to be. She begged her mother to shop for her in the boys department of JC Pennys and wears clothes that are baggy with sport slogans on them.

Composers utilise language to explore significant ideas. Steven Herrick’s prose novel, The Simple Gift is a valuable novel that showcases the development of belonging from the perspectives of three characters, Billy, Caitlin, and Old Bill. Herrick uses these multiple perspectives to further explain the damaging effects of grief, trauma, and isolation through Billy and Old Bill. In addition to the importance of valuing others communicated by Herrick with the characters Caitlin and Old Bill. The Simple Gift leaves the readers questioning the impacts of grief and trauma, as well as the importance of valuing others in life.

The Founding Fathers intensely debated the size, scope, and structure of our government at the Constitutional Convention. The Founding Fathers discussion had a recurring theme of power. The theme of power at the Constitutional Convention affected the resulting structure of government. The system of government the Founding Fathers created is still working as intended to address the theme of power. In A Brilliant Solution by Carol Berkin the theme of power addresses the size, scope, and structure of our government.
The very first way the story shows the theme is through character. For example, Doodle's brother renamed him because of his disabilities. “Renaming my brother was perhaps the kindest thing I ever did for him because nobody expects much from someone called Doodle.” (Hurst 464)
The theme is developed through characters’ thoughts and feelings. In the text “ Bad Boy“,Water likes reading , dancing , and singing . He was expected to like sports like the other boys so he can have respect. It connects to the theme of childhood challenges because he's trying to be someone he's not so he can fit in . In the text “ I was a Skinny Tomboy Kid “ the main character acted free in her surroundings.
20,575 people from Iran fled in 2021 and applied for asylum in other countries. Sadly, the author and family mentioned in the book had to become refugees and be on the run from authorities, applying for asylum, and facing discrimination. The story “Family Reunion” by Barbra D. Krasner tells the story of a young girl named Angelina immigrating from Italy to America to see her father. The story’s overall suspenseful and anxious since Angelina is not sure if she’ll be able to get into the country to see her father. Though, at both the beginning and the end of the story we see a joyful version of Angelina. Krasner creates a joyful and expecting tone in paragraphs one and 22 to create a contrast in tone to convey the strength of Angelina’s emotions and justify her reasoning for having so much dread attributed to being deported.
That was how she was exhibiting the theme of the book.
Hidden Talents by David Lubar is a book about a boy named Martin Anderson who gets into an alternative school because he has a sharp mouth and gets in trouble a lot. In the poem when the author refers the to something, it's evident that the author is talking about a heart. How can we know what they are talking about? Well, just look at the phrases they say.
In Gary Soto’s short story ‘Growing Up,” the main character, Maria, says, “‘I know, I know. You’ve said that a hundred times,’ she snapped.” Maria is acting ungrateful because she doesn’t want to go on vacation with her family and she is arguing with her father about it instead of being grateful for what she has. Being grateful is feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness and being thankful. In the story Maria argues with her father about not wanting to go on vacation with her family and claims that she is old enough to stay home by herself.
