Scout’s reaction is hotheaded, blind, and continues the contentious feeling between the two classmates; whereas Atticus’s reaction shows empathy towards Scout and a desire to help Scout understand the context of his case. This juxtaposition shows how violence got Scout nowhere with Cecil; however Atticus's approach of ahimsa got his point of view and the facts about the case, through to Scout and helped her solve the conflict between her and Cecil. The big lesson that Atticus teaches her is that you need to always think of something from the others point of view. When he was describing this he said to scout ¨You can't really know a person until you climb into their skin and walk around in it.¨ This quote represents a metaphor that means before you just go right to conclusion saying that you are right. You have to think about it in their point of view and in the end you could both be right. This shows that Scout is coming of age because learning this when you are young and using this concept is amazing for kids her age.

Scout does not believe her father would say this and cries. She does not want to remember it and she does not want to act the way her aunt wants her to. Atticus then realizes that this is not who he is and says, “Forget it”(179). This shows that no matter what anyone says, Atticus will let Scout be who she wants to be. Another time is when Scout first starts to go to school, her teacher notices that Scout already knows how to read.
