Thin-slicing refers to the ability of our unconscious to find patterns in situations and behaviors based on very narrow slices of experiences. It involves making very quick decisions with minimal amounts of information. People usually indulge in this kind of thinking whenever encountering a new person, a new situation o when having to take a quick decision. Generally, education, experience and beliefs help to in thin-slicing a situation to gain a quick understanding. Thin-slicing can be applied almost anytime but the important thing is that it should not be apply every time. We have seen a lot of situations where innocent people are accused of something they didn’t do because of the existence of biases or a specific personal experience. So, even though this kind of thinking might be useful, it should be taken into account that it is based only on the “judge” inner feelings and thoughts. B- Priming involves an increased sensitivity to particular stimuli as a result of previous experience.
