Discrimination is defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. Sadly, not to long ago America was facing this problem with African Americans. They were being discriminated based solely on the color of their pigmen. Although now most people would never harm anyone because of their skin color, it was not always so. In fact, in 1955 when 14 year old Emmett Till was visiting relatives in Money, Mississippi, he was later shot and killed by 2 white men (Latson).
There is American Indian or Alaska Native. Black or African American. Asian, such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and of course, Vietnamese. Discrimination is widely known in these areas of the world. The way African Americans responded to discrimination has changed over the years. Specifically 1890s-1920s and the 1950s-1960s. The strategies and tactics of these two groups altered over time, and with that so did their goals. The reason why African Americans decided to speak up was due to the fact of abuse they'd been suffering for years, maily being segregated and treated like aliens. In the case of the Russian Revolution, World War I(WWI) brought about negative impacts for the economy, the governing of the country, and the military. I could change wrong belief that I have had about the classification of race in ancient time that is race is sorted by genetic base and outward feature such as skin color. I learned some interesting fact that ancient people divided people in terms of religion, status, class, and language. Being bigoted about races, I thought it was a right thing to divide people with physical differences because it is an archetypal idea to believe in the era I live. However, it is not true that outward characteristic can define race because there are mixed races that effective to certain physical traits.

After a troublesome and torrid time, the black people or what so called slaves, were entering the 20th century with hope of not being discriminated after the slavery had been abolished in the late 19th century. The beginning of 20th century had overseen the stampede of worldwide immigrants to America as they seek for a better life. As for African-Americans, they were entering the phase where they found themselves almost identical with the past century despite the slavery being abolished. Though the abolishment of slavery was written in the 13th Amendment, some of the states still legalized it. They were still in the same position as they were before in some of the states in America.
There are many concepts that underpin discrimination and many theories to draw from this paper will detail and explore the definitions, concepts, and theories such as Stereotyping, Social Identity Theory, and Conflict Theory which are all to the fore in prejudice and discrimination. It will seek to examine current research and suggest strategies based on best practice and evidence to combat discrimination and prejudice within organisations to allow for a healthy productive workforce. Prejudice is an unjustified or incorrect negative attitude in the direction of an individual based exclusively on the individual’s affiliation with a social group, a prejudiced person might not act on their attitude.
