This year was the second in a row that the fantasy series cleaned house at the ceremony. Game of Thrones fans can be quick to laud the series for its well-written dialogue, suspenseful plot, and engaging characters. However, they often forget how much of a technical marvel the show can be. Thanks to the generous amount of fund that HBO is willing to invest in the show, Game of Thrones is just as visually arresting as it is gripping at storytelling. The sets are detailed and eye-catching, the fight scenes are thrilling and action-packed, and the special effects and makeup range from stunning to terrifying. (You can say what you will about how boring the sub-plot in Dorne is, but you cannot deny that that place looks breathtaking.)
