The Tiny House and Its Movement
A tiny house seems to be a perfect solution to the homeless of Ruston, Louisiana. Tiny homes are small, inexpensive, eco-friendly, and portable.

The name Tiny House is self-explanatory. “Tiny” refers to something that is very small (Tiny). A “house” is a place where a number of humans inhabit, whether it be one person or a family (House). “Dwelling” is another term that can be used when talking about tiny homes. A dwelling is a place of residence (Dwelling). In conclusion, a tiny house is a small residence where a number of people can inhabit.

One of the main reasons behind this is that they are easier to build and they do not take near as long to build. It could take a professional as little as 120 hours to build a tiny house (Building a Tiny House). Another bonus is non-professionals can build the tiny house relatively quickly as well. A lot of times a bathroom will be included, and then a small kitchen may be added in. To save space, a bedroom loft can be added in rather than a main floor bedroom. A tiny house can also have up to three bedrooms. Typically, the ones with three bedrooms are too wide to travel on the road, but can be built on concrete foundation. The tiny homes with two bedrooms are still narrow enough to transport if the bedrooms are placed at opposite ends of the house and not side by side. If there is only one bedroom loft, then there can be an additional storage loft added to the other side of the home.

Ideally, the ones that would be built for the homeless are one bedroom tiny houses with a bathroom. This drives down the cost of building while still being considered a “livable” structure by the city of Ruston. A community kitchen between the tiny houses in the community would be the best option, because only one kitchen is being built rather than a separate kitchen for every
