In “To kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is about a girl name scout that lives with her brother Jem and Atticus. Scout is narrator of this story. This story takes readers to the roots of human behavior to innocence, experience, kindness, cruelty, love and hatred. We can take many messages from this book but personally I think the big message of this story is that everybody is the same and should be treated the same. There is much racism going on.

In “To Kill a Mockingbird” there is a lot of good and evil. The most evil thing for me was the innocence of Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson’s trial shows there’s evil and racial prejudice. They destroyed an innocent man’s life who was sentenced guilty for raping a girl. The girl wanted to accuse him of raping her because he was African American and she thought everybody would believe her. She also thought it would be easy to win this case and have Tom Robinson be sent to jail and destroy his family. Atticus founded in his heart to help the innocent man and defend him in the case. During the case of Tom Robinson Jem was barely entering an age where he was understanding what’s right and what’s wrong. He realized that what they did too Tom Robinson was wrong and it hurt Jem a lot. He was disappointed finding out justice does not always prevail. He realized what his father did was good and admires that from him throughout the novel. Jem is able to see that Boo Radley’s unexpected aid indicates there is good in people even when everybody thought he was a bad person. Jem doesn’t let scout squash a roly-poly because it hasn’t done any harm to her. After seeing the unfair justice of Tom Robinson, Jem now wants to protect the fragile and harmless.
