Have you ever wondered what the moral of life is? In To Kill a Mockingbird, the community works together to teach the children moral lessons. The community teaches the children about courage, equality, and how it is like to stand in someone’s shoes. These lessons help the children understand that it is okay to be different from everyone.
"Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." A Alabama tomboy writing a world famous book was totally unexpected. Harper Lee never initially thought she would be a author or a worldwide author.
The Autobiographical Nature of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird Literature does not exist in a vacuum—the author brings to each story personal experiences and knowledge which shape the overall work. Such is the case with writer Harper Lee, who grew up during the Great Depression and lived in the racially segregated South. Lee’s one and only novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, reflects the impact of this childhood environment. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee utilizes an autobiographical protagonist to comment on the importance of personal integrity in a world of social injustice. Knowing something about Harper Lee’s life will help readers better understand how it influenced her novel.
To kill a mockingbird in a novel written by Harper Lee This novel is mostly covering the American racist society in the late 1950-60s. At the beginning of the novel we are introduced to life in Maycomb, life in Maycomb is small town life where the people are a mainly friendly community and hold high values, such as values of the family. However, most of the people tend to be judgmental and intolerant, excluding other people from the community, such as poor people and the black community. Harper Lee was talking about racism towards black people and how they were treated and judged based on their colour. At that period of time black people didn’t have rights like white people.
