Have you ever thought what would happen if one person started to believe in something that’s others didn’t. Then what if everybody else started to follow along. That reminds me of this game called Fortnite. One person started playing it then everybody followed along. This relates back to To Kill A Mockingbird by showing how racism has affected their town. One person shares his opinion about racism then everybody starts to agree with it. This quote takes place when Dolphus is explaining with people about how he doesn’t drink he just wants to be with the African American. “Some folks don’t - like the way I live” ( Lee 268). This reveals that Dolphus knows that people don’t like that he is a drunk but mainly that he’s always with the African American. The quote is describing that Dolphus understands that the other town people don’t like the way he drinks African Americans. Dolphus Raymond is described as a mocking bird because that he was known as a drunk in the town. He really just wanted to be with the African Americans and have people not judge him for it. Another example of Dolphus being a mocking bird is when Dill and Scout figure out that the bottle inside the paper sack was just filled with Coca Cola instead of the booze the rest of the town though was in there. …show more content…

This quote is when Mr Underwood is talking about Tom's death and how it’s like the senseless killing of a mockingbird. It relates back to a earlier quote in a book about how it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird. “He likened Tom's death to the senseless slaughter of songbird”. This reveals that more and more people are starting to understand that Tom actually never did anything that would really put him in the position he is in now. This also relates back to the mockingbird quote and how he is like a mocking bird and it was a senseless killing. One last example is when Atticus is talking to Jem about how Tom Robinson was going to be sent to jail no matter what would happen. "Tom Robinson's a colored man, Jem. No jury in this part of the world's going to say 'We think you're guilty, but not very' on a charge like that. It was either a straight acquittal or nothing." (Lee 219) This quote reminds me of another quote in the story “Tom Robinson was a dead man the minute Mayella Ewell. This shows that no matter what would happen Tom was going to be sent to Jail because he is a African American in southern
