From the quiet streets of Maycomb County to the mythical realms of Yggdrasil, social class creates an extremely complex and powerful dynamic. An important role within a community is how social class plays a role in a community. Social class is an important factor in communities because it influences how people in communities treat each other and how societal structures are formed. In the first part of the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, it is implied that the Finches are in a higher social standing than a lot of the other inhabitants of Maycomb County. Because of their higher social standing, it impacts how the family is treated, whether it be negative or positive. For example, in a positive manner after Tom Robinson's trial Calpurnia …show more content…

On the other hand, the downside of being of a higher social class means that more things are expected of you, for example Atticus taking the Tom Robinson case caused a lot of trouble for Scout. “He had announced in the schoolyard the day before that Scout Finch’s daddy defended n***ers” (Lee 77). Since Atticus took on Tom Robinson's in the 1930s, which would cause some controversy among the community, it caused some of the people of Maycomb to view him differently. In the beginning of the story it's shown how the farmer is almost like a king and below him are all the animals but as the story moves on and the farmer is thrown off his farm, the pigs take control. “It was about this time that the pigs suddenly moved into the farmhouse and took up their residence there” (Orwell …show more content…

Jones had lived and established themselves as being higher than the rest of the animals on the farm. Another earlier example of the pigs higher social status is towards the end of the book when a lot of the animals have died off and it's just old benjamin left.”The Creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, And from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” (Orwell 105) After the revolution where the pigs had gained control of the farm they had ruled with an iron fist had turned into the very people that they had swore to destroy turning into what is pretty much the height of social disparity on the Manor Farm where the pigs hold all the power over all the other animals and are at the top of the social ladder ruling with hearts of stone. Another example would be in the video game God Of War (2018). At the beginning of the game, one of the main characters, Atreus, is the son of a god and for the first half of his journey he is unaware of his godhood. Halfway through his journey, he learns of his godhood and starts to interact with his friends differently, acting like he is better and of a higher social
