Out of nowhere one day, my best friend Michael stopped going to school and it was like he disappeared. Then during 5th period I heard Mr.Vaughn on the loudspeaker saying “I regret to inform you that one of our students has passed on. We will hold a memorial service for Michael Dobson during assembly this Friday”. I let the announcement sink in for a good minute and and felt like my brain was bouncing back and forth. My knees fell to the ground hoping it was some sort of prank but as I looked up, I saw Mrs.Jackie crying her eyes out with the other students. I guess he sees me as a friend more than as a student. Well he assigned me a great book call “To Kill a Mockingbird”. It's about this young girl who sees racism and experiences many things. And so far it's my favorite book but I guess any book I read suddenly becomes my favorite one. When it was lunch, I stayed in Bill's class and talked about “To Kill a Mockingbird”. We discussed how racism is very apparent in the time period and how it affected people. When lunch ended, I headed to fifth period and one kid named Sean who was just a bit taller took an interest in me. After gym class ended, he told me that he was going to torment me and I asked him why. But then he started to get angry and started attacking me. I thought to myself why was I being attacked? My big brother taught me some fighting moves and told me to go for the weak spots. I started to retaliate but I ended up hurting Sean really bad so I started to cry. My sister had to take me home and my mom got a call from the principal that it was self defence so I didn't get suspended.
