Gary Paulsen, the author of “Hatchet” describes one of Brian’s traits by using actions. As stated by this quote, “When he was done he covered the two piles with grass he tore from the lake shore to keep the flies off and went back outside”, (69) Brian used his surrounding environment to produce an answer for a complicated problem. An ordinary person wouldn 't thought of a solution as quickly as Brian did in this particular situation. The answer for this problem seems simple, after you have figured it out. But it’s not simple while you’re looking for it.

Grandfather’s death is when Mattie was faced with the most adversity. She changed a lot after his death, she became mentally stronger. Also, I learned a lot about life from Mattie’s response to her grandfather’s death.

Marcus, a main character in the book Little Brother, was near the bay bridge in San Francisco when it was blown up by terrorists. He was blamed for it by the DHS (Department of Homeland Security). Due to the bombing, the city was put under heavy watch by the DHS and everyone was treated as a potential terrorist, especially Marcus. Throughout the book, Marcus fought against the DHS for the rights to privacy of himself and the civilians of San Francisco.
Holden Caulfield is in love with Jane and he doesn’t know if she likes him back. The statements that Holden makes can be somewhat loving and caring about Jane. “Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger Holden is in love with Jane and every time he speaks about her to other such as Sladhater who Holden mostly talks about her to him. In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale commits a mortal sin by having an affair with a married woman, Hester Prynne. As a man of the cloth in Puritan society, Dimmesdale is expected to be the embodiment of the town’s values. He becomes captive to a self-imposed guilt that manifests from affair and his fear that he won’t meet the town’s high expectations of him. In an attempt to mitigate this guilt, Dimmesdale acts “piously” and accepts Chillingworth’s torture, causing him to suffer privately, unlike Hester who repented in the eyes of the townspeople. When Dimmesdale finally reveals his sin to the townspeople, he is able to free himself from his guilt.

One of the main messages of this novel is that a person’s life is dependent on how they make decisions and how they deal with the consequences of it. This message is shown in the novel through the character’s journey to search for the truth.

I have read the chapters 1-27 in the book Insurgent, in the beginning Tris and Tobias were on their way away from the city and away from the erudite, who were taking control. After they find out that the erudite are searching for them, they decide to take a train back to the center of the city and stay in the warehouse with a bunch of other divergent.
The quote that Handful says to Sarah in The Invention of Wings, “My body might be a slave, but not my mind. For you, it’s the other way around” (Kidd 201), displays the obvious inequalities towards women and African Americans during the early 1800’s. The quote shows that not only is Handful a slave in the novel, but Sarah is as well. Sarah is trapped in the mindset that she cannot make a difference in the world and believes her dreams of having a profession are unrealistic due to what others think. The quote is very important because it helps Sarah realize how imprisoned she is in Charleston and how she can never make a difference in the fight for justice for others due to women’s status.
