The Scottsboro boys trial and the Tom Robinson trial in To Kill a Mockingbird are similar for these reasons. Mayella Ewell represents Victoria Price and Ruby Bates because Mayella made the crowd fell bad for her because she was a white, shy, and an unstable women. I think Lee kept these details the same because in the Scottsboro trial Price and Bates were the ones “raped”, and in the Robinson trial Mayella was the one “raped”. As I said Price and Bates are being represented by Mayella in the Robinson trial. Another similarity was that both trails were about rape.
Madison Police Officer to Resume Desk Job With Force After Being Cleared of Wrongdoing Officer Matt Kenny has been cleared of wrongdoing in the shooting death of Tony Robinson, Jr. on Mach 6. Robinson was shot in Madison, Wisconsin after several 911 calls complained about a man acting insanely, jumping into traffic and assaulting them. Officer Kenny was the first on the scene and followed Robinson into his house. According to the statements of Kenny, Robinson attacked him, knocked him into a wall and when he tried to retreat Robinson came after him.
I believe Tom Robinson isn’t guilty. Some ways I could tell this is how he presents his case, his mannerisms, and also how his injuries can make him unable to commit the said crime. The plaintiffs and witnesses supporting them did not present their information in that way. Many of the testimonies were conducted improperly, or weren’t said confidently. Hector Tates was very contradictory, Bob Ewells was disorderly, and Mayellas was abruptly emotional.
In Harper Lee’s book, To Kill A MockingBird, she teaches us that you don’t want to judge people for what they look like or how they act. For instance, it talks about how how Tom Robinson was found guilty, when there wasn’t reliable evidence for him to be found guilty. They know he didn’t rape Mayella, but since he was black, they confirmed him as guilty. He wouldn’t have gotten a fair trial, so judge Taylor appointed Atticus to Tom. Tom Robinson was found guilty because he was black.
Twenty-two year old, Andre Robinson should be convicted of a felony, for the hostile actions he has taken. Not only because it is categorized as animal cruelty, but as it was first, and foremost, intentional. Second, the situation could and should have been handled in a more mature way. Lastly, Robinson saw no problem with potentially murdering an innocent creature. Without question, Robinson should be required jail time; moreover, a full seven-year sentence, for his intentional abuse on King, the cat.
THE INTRODUCTION Good morning, my name is Braden Hoheisel, and it is my pleasure to represent the State of Maycomb and to serve as prosecutor in this life-changing case. On August 26, 1936 Mr. Gilmer harassed and disrespected Tom Robison in his court trial. He made false statements about stuff not related to the case and called Tom names. At the conclusion of this case, we hope that after you have heard all the evidence that you will choose the verdict of guilty on this case and the charges of harassment and lying.
The eighth amendment is related to the To Kill A Mockingbird story because they wanted to give Tom Robinson the death penalty for something he didn't do. He was accused of rape, but they didn't give him a fair trial. So it was cruel and unusual punishment and false testament in this situation. Black people would get death penalties or life in prison if they committed a crime.
In my opinion from reading the conviction of Hiawatha Robinson case, I honestly think that he was guilty of the murder of his 8- year old daughter Hiawayi. The FBI and police had gathered so much information on Hiawatha that they could finally charge him of 1st degree murder of his daughter. The FBI had fingerprints, phone records, and even witnesses saying that Hiawatha was the last person to see his daughter alive. To murder your own daughter I think you have to be heartless and evil, especially a child he age of eight. Everyone expects Robinson to be sentenced to life in prison, meaning if he was eligible for parole he would get it after spending 24 years in prison first.
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the story is set in the 1900’s, Maycomb, Alabama. During this time there was racism in the south and segregation which separated the whites and blacks from everything. There was also the Great Depression, the whole country was poor and people living in the country had to trade and do other jobs for people to either pay them off or to buy something from them. The trial in this book is about Mayella and Bob Ewell, two white people, claiming and arguing that Tom Robinson, a black person, raped Mayella Ewell. This trial is really important because at that time in the south, white people took advantage of black people and their kindness and thought they would take that or shut up just because they were black.
After hours of waiting, the jury came back in. Scout explains how “A jury never looks at the defendant if it has convicted, and when this jury came in, not one of them looked at Tom Robinson… Judge Taylor was polling the jury; ‘ Guilty...Guilty...Guilty’”(211) When Scout and Jem hear the verdict, they are distraught. As they were walking home, “It was Jem’s turn to cry.. ‘It’s not right, Atticus’”(212)
Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird is about a man named Atticus and his two kids Jem and Scout. Atticus was appointed to defend an African American, named Tom Robinson. Tom was accused by Bob Ewell for raping and beating his daughter, Mayellea Ewell. During the trial scene, everyone in that courtroom finds outs the truth that Tom is innocent against the accusations from Bob. The truth is that Mayella kissed Tom and Bob saw what she did.
In chapters 17-24 in To Kill A Mockingbird, Jem and Scout observe their father in court defending Tom Robinson (a black man) from the accusations of the Bob Ewell (a "low grade ' ' white man). Bob Ewell accuses Tom Robinson of sexually assaulting his daughter; Mayella Ewell. Before the fate of Tom Robinson is given in the possession of the jury, both lawyers have a final attempt at convincing the jury that Tom Robinson should/shouldn 't be prosecuted. Atticus starts off his closing remarks with the fact that he believes that the case should have never come to trial and that the case "”is as simple as black and white."
It is my opinion that abortion can be morally permissible. I believe that the right to continue or terminate a pregnancy is something that the woman should have control over. Abortion is an extremely personal decision. I’m not saying that there aren’t other suitable options available, I’m simply stating that the woman should have the right to make the best decision for herself. After all, it IS her body.
