I believe Tom Robinson isn’t guilty. Some ways I could tell this is how he presents his case, his mannerisms, and also how his injuries can make him unable to commit the said crime. The plaintiffs and witnesses supporting them did not present their information in that way. Many of the testimonies were conducted improperly, or weren’t said confidently. Hector Tates was very contradictory, Bob Ewells was disorderly, and Mayellas was abruptly emotional. Which brings me to the conclusion that Tom Robinson isn’t guilty. To start, Sheriff Hector Tate’s testimony has many flaws, which could almost prove that a lot of the information he is presenting isn’t reliable. The first line we hear Bob say, “So help me God.” (Chapter 17 Page 193) can already show you he may not be certain about what he will say in his testimony. It also shows that he is reluctant to be there. He also jokes around, when the judge asks if Mayella is his daughter, he says “Well if I ain’t I can’t do anything about it now, her ma’s dead.” In a case that is about something serious, such as his daughter being raped, he shouldn’t be making jokes like that. We also learn about the family life, Mayella states that “He is tolerable, ‘cept when-” but we don’t learn from Mayella but it is implied that it probably refers to Bob's alcohol addiction. Also in her testimony, she says she “Won't answer a word you say as long as you keep on mocking me” (Page 206 Chapter 18). She says this because Atticus calls her terms like Miss and Ma’am. She acts very abruptly, to the point where she cries and has to make the court take a brief recess.
