Young people have more potential than adults realise. Tomorrow When The War Began is a novel by John Marsden where a group of teenagers go camping in the bush. When they emerged, their town had been pillaged by war. An important character is Homer, he is a role model for teenagers because he proves he can survive and lead a group of friends, proving he has more potential than adults realise. At the start of the novel, Homer shows little potential to become a role model. Ellie describes the surroundings as they enter Hell. They all exit the “Landie” and stretch their legs except for Homer and Kevin who are throwing rocks off a cliff. “A few rocks were thrown; there was some wrestling; Homer nearly took the fast route to Hell.
