Tom's Trial In To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee

Tom’s Trial
In the story “To Kill a Mockingbird”, there is a debate about whether Tom got a fair trial because of racial opinions. He was accused of rape by a white girl. Although Tom was innocent he was sentenced to death by a bias Judge.
In the book the court date was over a year after the innocent happened. Although in the Constitution, Amendment VI states “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial.” Therefor Tom shouldn’t have had to stay in jail for a year before the trial.
Another reason that supports my claim is the jury. In the Constitution it states there must be an impartial jury by the state. At the trial all the jury members were racist and white which didn’t give tom a fair trial.
