Author Biography Toni Morrison Toni Morrison, born on February 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio, is a writer known for writing books like “Beloved Jazz”, “Sula”, and her well known book “The Bluest Eyes”. Growing up as the second oldest child within the family of 3 siblings, along with her mother and father, Morrison’s childhood was filled with her family telling stories and singing songs. Her family, not only loved and enjoyed the black culture, but also influenced Morrison to also influence her future works to be inspired by her culture. Personally, it did have a interesting goal for someone to have blue eyes and to see the person go through that life of getting them, however I was confused from a few points in the book as the reading processed on. The story follows a young colored girl name Pecola, a poor girl who desires to have blue eyes due to her skin color. Throughout the story, it would go into the everyday life of Pecola, whether it been her family fighting or being at school, being bullied. To give credit, the book goes very deep like from its controversial subject’s sexual content, where it does handle the situation very well in a very serious tone, giving the characters time to flesh out of who they are and what they go through. The only minor nitpick I give the story was, while it was very engaging for both the characters and story, I was confused at a few points. Going from scene to scene very slow or very fast which sometimes did confuse at points, like why would this happen or this. However even with this small nitpick, it still does keep its attention to the story and the
