The problem with the sex education program its that it does not give students the right information about sex. The topics most sex education sources cover are STDs, pregnancy and abstinence. These topics are important but, for example topics about homosexuality are rarely discussed. The abstinence-only programs teach only about heterosexuality and do not consider the LGBT students. In most cases, the information that is being presented to the students are exaggerated as a way to scare them away from having sex. They trying scaring students by showing grotesque photos of STDs and pregnancy videos to show the negative effects of having sex. Sex education is taught between 7-12 grade, which the students’ parent is legally still responsible at that age. Whether its is because of conservative view or culture belief, it tires back to the parents. Jonathan Zimmerman, the author of Too Hot to Handle: A Global History of Sex Education, talks about the worlds views on sex and how it effects the sex eduction. Zimmerman introduces Mr. Marish, a Muslim immigrant from Kuwait. Mr. parish gives his opinion on sex education stating, “I preserve my right to raise my children following my cultural and religious beliefs, and the curriculum compromises my rights.” People have traditional values were sex before marriage is frown upon. However, parents would still be able to implement their beliefs onto their child regardless if they choose to have their child take a sex education class. Teens are not having sex because of the sex education they receive. They have sex because it is a natural human desire. Comprehensive sex education gives students the necessary tool to explore their sexuality in a health and safe way. It is unfair to the other students who want to know more about their sexuality, but are not getting because of abstinence sex
