Totalitarianism is a system of government that controls all aspects of society. This type of government includes one’s political structure, values,beliefs, goals;essentially the individual’s existence. A dictator named Francisco Franco, also known as Caudillísimo y Generlasísimo, one of the few names that is considered a totalitarian leader. Franco was a military leader in Spain, and eventually rebelled against the “popular front” after the disappointment of 1936 Spanish elections.Having and gaining power, he eventually became the dictator of Spain and used many techniques to gain control such as propaganda,censorship of certain religions and literature such as The Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia . In Franco’s speech to the Falangist Party council, he says“ The phase that begins now is that of unity and perfection in work, and of preparing ourselves for the great moment that the world offers us.” This quote represents the new start that Francisco Franco will deliver a new government to Spain. This law states that it will constitute Spain as "a Catholic, social, and representative state which, in accordance with its tradition, is a kingdom."This translates that Catholicism is the official religion of the country. Having the Catholic church in high power,the catholic church receives financial support by the state,mandatory religious instructions in education, and the ability to own property and publish books.As for spaniards who practiced the Catholic religion, they to also get numerous privileges.This includes:no taxation from the government,financial aid for constructions,establish universities,operate radio stations,publish newspapers,and protection from the police.The Law of Succession also mentions laws about the government According to the law, the “male over the female” can be chosen as Headship of State, as well as the same age as the prior leader.
