The first school I attended my freshman year was at Glen High school. Upon my first arrival, I met my counselor at the school who would determine the courses I will take. I was rather nervous yet optimistic when discussing my future with her, as she spoke with me she took a look at my transcript from Mahone Middle school. To my surprise, she recommended me to take honor roll for Biology, Math 2, World History, and English I.
The Harlem Renaissance. These three words changed African-American history forever. One of the greatest accomplishments of the Harlem Renaissance was the sense of hope and opportunity it offered the black community. Despite this great progressive movement, racism, colorism and traditional gender roles were still a great influence in the urban affairs of the Harlem Renaissance. Through facing their many adversities, they expressed their troubles through different forms of art.
In today’s modern society, many high school students are focused on achieving the highest GPA and SAT/ACT score possible to impress colleges. Students are informed that by checking off these requirements, they will have a greater chance in securing an acceptance of admission to their dream school. As they transition to their first-year of college, they will soon realize that high school only prepares them how to apply to college. Students will notice that what they learned in high school does not compare to the college coursework. In college, the expectations are higher.
My grades dropped drastically because I didn't attend school a lot, because I had no way of getting there or sometimes I didn't wanna go,so I just didn't go. Later CPS got involved when she went to jail for a few days . My dad ended up getting full custody of us and that's when I started my freshmen year at Gila Ridge. I now go to school everyday and I still struggle a little bit but my grades have improved a lot. From this setback i've learned not to just settle for
The pain and agony due to the fact that I might not be prepared for college class was on my shoulders. Since day one of highschool, my biggest desire throughout school was to be engaged in learning while being well prepared for the next step in life: college. What class was the answer to this class desired? It was in a meeting with my guidance counselor in eighth grade that struck me and sparked the interest in my heart to do well. All of my highschool career I have never known what it actually meant to do well and be ¨successful.¨
I believe that I have been academically successful throughout my high school years. However, this success did not come naturally to me, it is something I had to work hard to achieve. Over many school years, I have worked to maintain high-grade marks and test scores. At Nicolet, I have maintained a 3.8 GPA in honors and accelerated placement classes. I am very proud of the academic accomplishments I have achieved through challenging myself with difficult courses and balancing my extracurricular activities.
Transcripts When I first started high school, my grades were not that good. I struggled in most of my classes in 9th grade until I realized that I can do so much better. In 9th grade I wanted to play football but because of my grades I could not participate in it. Toward the end of 9th grade I got my grades together and since then I’ve gotten really good grades.
An issue that could arise is a major adjustment in my study habits. Currently, my study habits may not be disciplined enough to achieve the grades I desire on a college level. Although this awakening might be harsh, it would force me to develop proper habits, preparing me for college two years in advance. Although the preparation that the Ohio State Academy would grant me is a strong reason to attend, the primary reason for my application is its intrinsic value. Although my high school offers a solid catalog of AP or CCP courses, the classes offered do not allow me to further my education in my fields of interest.
Although my grades were not always consistent, I never earned less than a B for a final grade in my English courses. Often my instructors privately told me that my papers were the best in the class and shared my work with others. My writing secured me a free trip to London and Paris with my business club as well as my acceptance into multiple colleges. I am certain my extracurricular activities, including cheerleading, volleyball, community service projects, fundraisers and employment also played a vital role in these accomplishments. Of all the schools to which I applied, only VSU waitlisted me probably because of my phobia about standardized examinations, which caused me not to perform as well as I should have on the SAT.
Last year, I got all A’s the whole year. I still keep the same standards. I work hard in my classes and try to be respectful to all my teachers. I believe in legitimately completing tasks on time and participating
My freshman year of high school was difficult for me to adjust to and I did not perform to the best of my ability on my biology honors midterm. Due to this discrepancy, I was unable to be accepted into the Science Honor Society in junior year. Although disappointed that a singular grade had the ability to decide a part of my future two years later, I continued to work hard, especially in my science courses. Junior year, I decided to challenge myself and take an AP Physics course, even though I had never taken a physics course prior. This class was excruciatingly demanding and a new experience for someone who had never taken an AP class before.
As you can see High School is a different environment than college. When I was in High School, I didn’t study as much in order to receive a high gpa. However, that wasn’t the same ball game in college and that’s why I not on campus like I’m supposed to. First personal choice I made that impacted my academic performance poorly was not showing up to class on time or not show up at all. I didn’t learn the material the professor was teaching, and didn’t know the due dates for homework, quizzes, tests, etc.
In High School, I have taken a total of nine Honors and AP classes combined. I have taken English l Honors, English ll Honors, Horticulture Science, Plant Science Horticluture, Anatomy and Physiology Honors, AP Literature and Composition, Pre- Calculus Honors, AP English Language and Composition, and Calculus Honors. All these classes are achievements for me because I was able to
There is a lot of despair featured in Bloom's representation. Thinking of his own father's suicide while others condemn the act on the way to Glasnevin Cemetery, Bloom states, "They used to drive a stake of wood through his heart in the grave. As if it wasn't broken already." Bloom thinks constantly during this day, of his wife’s affair, still managing to perform several charitable acts: "Today. Today.
My high school is highly competitive and I’m grateful that I was surrounded by such wonderful peers and teachers. Completing high school, I received 12th place out of almost 450 students, with a weighted GPA of 4.244. Despite my hard course load,
