Petition for Reinstatement When I received my admission letter from Michigan State University, I started shivering as my palms were dripping sweat. The nervousness I had was extremely high, and my state of mind was like a brand new soccer ball getting kicked on the soccer field; as this letter will determine my future. My mother and I opened the letter together as we took a deep breath and hoped that this was nothing but great news. After a glance at the first word “Congratulations,” I couldn’t go farther for I couldn’t believe what I’ve just read, so I read it loud and clear repeatedly to get it clear and to hear myself say it. After tearing the envelope, I slowly grabbed the letter and started to read it; from every letter to every word …show more content…
As you can see High School is a different environment than college. When I was in High School, I didn’t study as much in order to receive a high gpa. However, that wasn’t the same ball game in college and that’s why I not on campus like I’m supposed to. First personal choice I made that impacted my academic performance poorly was not showing up to class on time or not show up at all. I didn’t learn the material the professor was teaching, and didn’t know the due dates for homework, quizzes, tests, etc. Since I didn’t know the most important materials that I was to use to farther my knowledge and to improve my gpa, I started falling behind and couldn’t keep up with other students. I never thought I’d ever receive a letter like that in my years of education. The only person I can blame is me, not anyone else. I messed up and had to pay consequences for my actions. When I came back after receiving my recess letter, I decide to visit the public library in downtown frequently. I have read many books about study habits and ways to improve grades, and how to find resources around local areas. One book was very familiar, it’s called “survival guide for engineers.” The first thing on the table of contents is “Go to class” and that’s exactly what I’m going to do, nothing else. It has more on about how important it is to attend class and on time. That’d be the first thing I will change when I’m reinstated into Michigan State University. Being involve in class will be my second thing to focus on since I will like to communicate with other classmates and the professor. I will also participate in review sessions and study groups. That session on the book extended my knowledge on to get myself involve within the classroom when students are
