INTRODUCTION
Background of the study

A healthy citizen contributes to the development of a country. According to Indian constitution article 41, scheduled tribes are indications of primitive traits, distinctive culture, geographical isolation, shyness to contact with community at large and backwardness.1Health care system should take efforts to reduce the health problems among tribes and reduce their vulnerability to become a backward group.

The statistics shows that tribal population even though a minor community contributes to an important portion of the population both in India and Kerala. According to 2011 census report there are 10, 42, 81,034 scheduled tribes in India and in Kerala there are 4, 84,839 …show more content…

This also will lead to adherence to the treatment and health care services provided to the tribal women.
The need factors are identified in two ways:
• Perceived: In this study this include the perception of tribal women regarding their health, need of various health care in different period of life i.e. adolescence, reproductive age group, pregnancy, lactation. This also includes the importance; tribal women are giving to maintain their health and to utilize health services. In this study the perception regarding health care and health care facilities is identified through unstructured interview.
• Evaluated: The evaluated need arises from the professional judgment of tribal women’s health status and the need for medical help.14 In this study hemoglobin and body mass index is assessed to identify anaemic and undernourished women and to seek medical health
