The movie I will be reviewing is Troy. A fil produced in 2004 starring Brad Pitt as Achilles and Orlando Bloom being the Prince of Troy. The movie revolves around the prince of troy falling in love with the queen of Sparta and convinces her to come back to Troy with him. This causes Agamemnon to wage an all-out war on the city of Troy. The movie was more revolved around the aspect of Hollywood film and less concerned with history and the original Iliad. However, the movie allows you too not need a deep background and gives relatively easy to pick up clues as to what is going on and for what reason. The review I will be looking at is by Moira Macdonald and he title reads, “Troy rolls out the horse, the hunks and several actors who steal the show”. After reading her review I found that there were a few things that I did agree with and even talked about in some way and then others I don’t agree with and don’t think they contributed to the movie that much. She talks about the characters bodies a good bit of her review and makes them seem like that was something that saved the movie, which to me is irritating and shouldn’t change your aspect on the movie just buff or attractive the main characters were. She does however go into Peter O’Toole and how he plays a very strong actor and talks about his attributes such as his ghostly stare and refers to him as an “old lion”. I think this is a very accurate description of him and the role he needs to play in this movie. I do think when she isn’t talking about just if the characters have a good bod that she is accurate in how the characters play a solid role in how they need to be in this movie. She then goes on to talk about the battles of the movie and how they keep the movie exciting and how they range in size from huge battles to small skirmishes of just a few men. She comments on a slight blurriness of one of the scenes that would imply CGI, I didn’t notice this, but I guess this is what makes her more of review than myself as I didn’t really see this.
