”Diversity is about all us, and about us having to figure out how to walk through this world together.” Was stated by Jacqueline Woodson and is referred to millions of people from different religion, culture, color, etc.Diversity is just like a one of the most important spice in food . If there is no diversity than life will be so boring. Not everyone in a family has the same likes and dislikes; everyone is unique either by behavior or lifestyle or thoughts. The article “true colors” by Christine Granados relates to the clash between the thoughts of the author and her mother.
In the article, Granados shows ups and downs of diversity between a mother and a daughter. In the article Granados felt that she is typical American and she wanted her life to be like an American T. V. show. She was attracted towards American lifestyle, but on the other hand, her mother used to like to follow Mexican culture. There were differences between the author's mother and the author herself, especially on their choices. In Granados article, she has described various example of herself when she was a child and also when she became mother. One of the favorite instance that Granados wrote was when author's mother brought frogs which were holding an umbrella and their legs were closed (123). when mother asked author to help her keep frogs in the backyard, and she commented that “they're so cute somebody might stole it “which was an indication to the mother to keep frogs at safe place(123).
