Turnitin And Grammerly: Personal Narrative Analysis

Turnitin and Grammerly were both very helpful in reviewing my work. I really like the ease of Grammerly. It caught my two grammatical errors and indicated how to fix them. It was a great learning experience I plan to use again. Turnitin seemed a little more confusing to me because nothing in my writing was highlighted. I assume that means I did not plagiarize. I have become more aware of plagiarism while I am writing.
I now understand the magnitude of plagiarizing since it is also considered cheating. I am a slow writer because I want everything to be perfect. I want my ideas to flow naturally and be supported. I re-read every sentence multiple times, rearranging my sentences, adding sentences where I feel it needs to be elaborated and so forth. My final work feels like a masterpiece after everything I had to do. I would be pretty upset if someone plagiarized my ideas and received all the credit. I believe that is how most writers would feel. DelGuidice (2015) believes Turnitin can be a teaching tool to help students learn from their plagiarizing mistakes. DelGuidice feels students do not realize they plagiarize. I believe Walden University created an honest environment by teaching all students about plagiarism, how to avoid it, as well as, the consequence. I always tell my kids; integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is looking. Walden University (2012) has developed modules which are focused on us learning how to have academic integrity in our writing. Being enrolled in an online school requires all students to have integrity on exams, discussions and papers.
