In the story The Outsiders the two main groups who are figuratively and literally on the opposites sides of town, the East side and the West side where the prime meridian of the city separates the Greasers and the Socs. When Pony and Johnny are at the movies and stop Dallas Winston from annoying the two Soc girls in front of them, the girls start to talk them and the boys realize that Socs aren’t very different from Greasers, besides the slicked back hair and the fancy blue Mustangs.
The novel “The Outsiders”, is about two gangs, the Socs and the Greases. The members of each gang show that they’re unified. The characters in the novel are united by living in the same neighbourhood and being in the same gang. The appearance and language unites the characters, they look the same and talk a lot like each other. Violence in the novel is very common, this unites the characters, by fighting together this shows that they will always be there for each other.
The evidence also shows that Ponyboy is an outsider because he gets put into A classes with other socs because he's supposed to be smart. Ponyboy is an outsider because he’s not like others in his class and others in his class think it’s funny how they put him in A
The Book That most people in Highschool have read would be The Outsiders . This book begins the story by telling us of two groups of teenagers who differences lead them in to bad stuff and them having to deal with consquences. However, the author Hinton tells of how these differences in social class do not tend to make natural enemies of the two groups. Though they are different groups who go by the greasers and Socs they actually do share some things in common.

S.E. Hinton is a famous young adult author who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her writing career started when she was at the young age of seventeen years old, when her first book, “The Outsiders” was published. S.E. Hinton knew she wanted to become a writer at a very young age. She wanted to write a book that was real and represented what many teenagers had to deal with in the 1960’s. Even though “The Outsiders” was published in 1967, it is still relevant today.

The coming of age and development of the characters has really created a bond between them. While it has created trust, it has also created distrust among the two gangs. The gangs were raised to hate and distrust each other.

The setting causes the characters to be tense and anxious, for example, Johnny and Darry who can never calm down and loosen up. They always have to look behind their back everywhere they go.

The setting of The Outsiders takes place in Oklahoma in the 1960’s. “Greasers,¨ a group of friends of Ponyboy, Johnny and the others are having a tough time in the a town in Oklahoma. The settings is a major part of changing the characters, to also affect the story. It’s hard being a “Greaser” in Oklahoma in the 1960’s.
Because of some discussions he had with a few of the Socs, he changes his opinion Recognizing that the Socs are just people after all, Pony’s final opinion is that they have problems too. Pony’s opening opinion of the Socs does not show them in good light. Initially, at the opening of the novel, Ponyboy does not like the Socs. To start, the Socs have everything.
In S.E. Hinton’s story, The Outsiders, group identity is so important that sometimes people overshadow their own identity. In our generation it is kind of the same way to some people, for instance people sometimes act and dress differently around the popular kids to fit in. While at home they do their normal routine and stay true to themselves. This is so important to the story for many reasons. It is also really important to kids this age in 2017.
