In the book, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, a long battle between two rivalry groups: the Socs and the Greasers unravels. The Greasers are the poor hoods who live on the east side of town. With an endless flow of money and living on the west side of town is the Socs. Johnny, a greaser, experiences horrific events and learns important lessons during this rollercoaster of events. Johnny’s actions were strongly influenced by the gang, societal expectations, lack of parenting, and peer pressure.

I think a hero is someone who saves someones life without thinking about themselves. Also, I think it means being a role model. Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally do fit the definition. For example, in the story it states "I'll get them, don't worry! " I started at a dead run for the church.
Have you ever viewed a piece of media that was astonishingly great, and had a theme that you can learn from? For me, that was The Outsiders—the movie and novel alike. From these 2 pieces of media, I was able to learn individuality and apply it to myself. Though many themes are present in The Outsiders, individuality stood out to me, as it is heavily developed, through character and plot. The Outsiders heavily develops the theme of individuality in the novel and film adaptations alike.

It tells the story of a 14 year old boy named Ponyboy and his friends, who all belong to a gang named Greasers from the East Side. They’re oppressed by the wealthy group named the Socials (Socs) from the West Side. The two groups wreck havoc across their territories by getting into fights and rumbles. At the beginning of the novel, Ponyboy states “I...have a high IQ and everything, but I don’t use my head”.

I’ve realized that today people criticize you by your past when they should really criticize you on what you’ll do for the future. Like the greasers, they are criticized by how they look, and their past. They are being ruined and almost killed for their characteristics when really that should bring them closer together. Hilton, we go to a time where gangs remain dominant and run the streets. S.E. Hinton tells us about two enemy gangs. The Socs, one of the many provocative gang groups, kids who live lavish lives and get away with the crimes they commit because they look clean cut and look like good innocent kids on the outside.
Picture being so scared walking home alone that you had to carry a switchblade around. In The Outsiders Ponyboy, and his friends who are called the greasers, live in a violent, bad neighborhood without their parents. They are against a group called Socs who are a higher class, in a much better neighborhood and they jump the greasers all the time out of nowhere. The setting causes the characters to be tense and anxious, for example, Johnny and Darry who can never calm down and loosen up. They always have to look behind their back everywhere they go.
The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, is a novel that explores the challenges faced by Ponyboy Curtis and his fellow gang members, growing up in the town of Tulsa, Oklahoma whilst living in the crossfire of two rival gangs: the Greaser and the Socs. During Ponyboy's journey he learns many important lessons, but after several tragic events, three key lessons stand out from all others. These are: to “stay gold,” not to judge others too quickly others and the pointless of violence. One of the most important lessons Ponyboy learns in The Outsiders is to, “Stay gold.”
