Leadership Leadership is based on responsibility from many levels. These levels include managers/supervisors, employees, and the overall organization. A good quality a leader must have a vision that supports the organizations as well as be able to motivate all employees. Even though employees have different things that motivate them it’s about finding the balance to make the working environment a positive one. Leadership styles will vary from organization to organization. This is because of the many departments that will operate differently based on what their responsibilities and tasks may be. The leader has the final say in making decisions and consultation is not required, as the leader is expected to make choices that benefit the subordinates. Richland District One has several different styles due to the different grade levels and various departments we have. For example elementary principals will seek a different behavior or motivation factor from elementary teachers versus a high school due to the grade level and maturity of the students.
I believe the elementary teachers have somewhat less stress and the leadership is more of the servant type. These principals want to exemplify the caringness and empower the teachers to be able to handle the minor situations that may arise. This is also an important stage in a young child’s life where they are being molded. However in a high school setting I think the principals will need to demonstrate a paternalistic setting to have the students on the same page as them as they are more mature. This way they can gain loyalty and provide the students with a sense of security.
Additionally, they have to be mindful and careful when it comes to the decision making process. Being that we deal with the community on a daily basis we have to take the public interest into consideration. The district is also funded by grants and community constituents. We do not want to make a decision that would affect any parts of the community
