probably I was too nervous about what I was going to say. hopefully next I want to be more comfortable about assignment.
Americans today have a growing obsession with so-called “health superfoods” and locally grown, organic produce. There is a strong appeal, especially to young people, to buy these foods labeled as “Health Foods” over their processed canned and frozen counterparts. However, these foods do come at a much higher cost. The high prices leave many Americans with the questions “Is there a health benefit to these foods” and if so, is it really worth it? Give (Frozen) Peas A Chance And Carrots Too by Give (Frozen) Peas A Chance And Carrots by Mehmet Oz aka “Dr. Oz” addresses that very question.
In the story drinking coffee elsewhere the author ZZ Packner allows the reader to believe that the main character is trying to understand her sexual and racial identity but in reality the story is not about race or sexual preference, passably as metaphors for the actual problem of conceiving an authentic self. The author allows the reader to believe that Dina is exploring her sexuality as a way to transition into fitting into a group but in actuality it is a coping mechanism. Dina uses this strategy of pretending to deflect her real issue with finding her identity and where she belongs in this world. Dina is not at all gay but by the author labeling her as that she is able to metaphorical show that Dina being gay allows her to focus on being apart of something she knows so well.
The constructive feedback that was given by the instructor after grading, pointed out how I needed to grab the readers’ attention by being firm without being conversational, stating opinions as if they were facts, avoiding paragraphs in the first person, and eliminating paragraphs that had weak word
On November 7, my family and I were invited to attend a quinceanera. A quinceanera is a traditional celebration of life and gratitude to the fifteenth birthday of a young Hispanic girl. It is believed that it was first celebrated by the Aztecs and Mayans and was adapted by the Spanish Catholics that conquered South America. The ancient Mexicans, or Aztecs, had many ceremonies to mark passages through the stages of life. This ritual emphasizes the young girls journey into womanhood and to announce her new social role to the entire community.

Homelessness in America Imagine that you are in a classroom at De Anza and you are walking outside after class ends. You are not walking to your car or another classroom but you’re living there. You have no shelter or money.
The topic I chose for my informative speech was gun violence in the United States. I chose this topic so that others may be aware of all the violence related to a firearm and to inform them of the dangers associated with a gun in the United States. Everyday we turn on the news and hear about a new tragedy involving some sort of firearm. Therefore choosing gun violence as the topic for my speech seemed appropriate. I believe my topic opened the eyes of my audience because of the effect it had on them, especially being that I myself was a victim to gun violence and went through the whole ordeal of being hospitalized and all other effects that follows after being shot.

and I managed to pass the class with a B. My weakness this year was probably not having enough sleep. I get cranky when I don’t get enough sleep, and I realized I can’t focus when I’m in class. My strength this year was probably becoming more organized and setting a specific schedule for myself everyday. Since I have to work, I need to make specific time for my homework. I also need to have specific time to shower and get ready for school in the morning.
