UFirst- Change Management Organization
The Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of UVA was given the task of overseeing the technostructural and human resource interventions aimed at solving the issues outlined in the OE practitioner’s study and aligning future human resource services to the University’s Cornerstone plan. Along with the Chief Human Resource Officer, the COO began an innovative yet incredibly complex transformation of human resource services entitled “UFirst.” The transformation was given the name UFirst emblematically reflecting the vision to keep “you” the consumer “first” in every decision made throughout the human resource renovation. Their mission, “to deliver a high-level of coordinated services supported by a best-in-class, cloud-based technology.”
Early in the concept phase of UFirst, a Strategic Operations Committee was chartered represented by senior leaders across the academic, Health System, and Physician Group entities. The committee was chaired by the Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer and was tasked with “aligning UFirst with the strategic direction and operational requirements across the enterprise.” The Strategic Operations Committee provides subject matter expertise on human resource topics and …show more content…

The human resource solution center is a “one stop, comprehensive resource committed to providing human resource support across the organization.” Some goals of the solution center is to resolve inquiries on the first interaction with the need to redirect to other sources, provide an exceptional customer service experience, and promote “self-service” when appropriate. The service center is also responsible for records management, benefits and leave of absence, transaction support, and payroll/timekeeping
