Summary of Article:
Harriet Beecher Stowe was a woman who cared about human rights. For over 18 years Harriet observed a slaving holding community in Kentucky right across the Ohio river in Cincinnati, where she lived. Since Harriet was disturbed by what she saw, Harriet was inspired to write a fictional story about slavery, Uncle Tom`s Cabin. Once she published her book, it instantly became a bestseller. Harriet gained so much recognition that she was invited to the White House to met President Abraham Lincoln.
