Uncle Tom's Cabin is one of America's most important and influential part of literature in America's history. A reason why this book was so popular was because it pushed the issue of slavery into everyone's faces and gave no one the an excuse to be misinformed about the topic, informing the average man about the mistreatment African American faces during those times. Uncle Tom's Cabin sold 300,000 thousand in the first year and made Harriet Beecher Stowe the first person to sell 1 million copies in america's history. Everyone in the 1850s knew about Uncle Tom's Cabin and if they didn't have a copy they borrowed it from a friends or family member convincing many americans to be anti slavery or prohibitionist. The book was about a master and his slave holding good relationships and how slave were important on an economy that relies on plantations. While there was anti toms literature there was also pro toms literature. One of the most famous one would be The heroic slave by Frederick Douglas. The heroic slave was about a enslaved man who worked as a chef and led a rebellion. Many other books were inspired by Uncle tom's cabin like blake by Mark Denley, The jungle by Titanic Sinclair,Silent spring by Rachel Carson and David walker Appeal. Uncle tom's cabin inspired music such as Brown Anti-slavery Harp. with all the influence on american culture this highlighted slavery in a bigger light making it a bigger problem to americans, Causing more political changes like Protest and riots.
