Unhealthy Ways To Talk With Baby Talk

Is speaking in baby talk really an unhealthy way to converse with a baby? There are differing opinions whether it is healthy to talk to a baby with “baby talk”. One side of the argument is that it does not matter if a talk to babies like this because they will not catch on to the “baby talk” words or phrases, so it will not affect them in learning new vocabulary. This argument claims the babies are too young to remember, and they won’t catch on the “baby talk”. Another argument is if a parent talks to a baby in “baby talk,” once they get older and start to learn words it takes longer to comprehend the vocabulary. This is because they have to transition from what they have heard from their parents to what the actual word or words are. So, if a parent talks to babies with normal vocabulary, it actually helps them learn new vocabulary faster and will be easier for them once they get in preschool. …show more content…

Well, it depends on your point of view on the subject. Both of the arguments are understandable and make good points, and this is why it is difficult to say whether it is a good thing or bad. There is still not a positive answer whether kids who grew up with “baby talk” have difficulty in school. I tend to agree with the second argument I listed that claims that babies catch on phrases the parents say or the way words are said. Once they get used to saying words this way it would be difficult or take them longer for them to comprehend and say the new words correctly. I believe the evidence I gave was a great example of a child that grew up without “baby talk”. So, I believe the result of kids, babies, and infants that grew up with or without “baby talk” makes a dramatic difference. I would have to do a lot more research to support this belief, but what I have read so far is very convincing. In the meantime, I persuade parents not to use “baby talk” with your child because it may interfere with their learning ability in the
