I am writing to thank you for generosity for HCZ Endowed scholarship. By me receiving this scholarship, you have helped enlighten some of my financial situation to help me continue my education here at Walsh University. By receiving this scholarship, I am most appreciative, and thankful for receiving it. I am a senior who is looking forward to graduating this spring from Walsh University with a degree in corporate communications and a minor in marketing. My plans after graduation is to work for a company in sales and in the advertisement field.
Similar to other immigrants my family history is somewhat compelling. Starting with my grandfather who was exiled out of Egypt in 1959 primarily as a result of the "decolonization process and the rise of Egyptian nationalism”, my immediate family and I also left France in 2004 as a result of rising tension against Jews. The migration of my grandparents and parents, from a young age, cultivated a sense of determination in me to overcome obstacles. Arriving in Miami at age 5, I had to learned my third language, English, in order to attend school. I was determined to and successfully lost my accent and got tested into the gifted program after a year of school.
I work in health care I am a respiratory therapist in the next 10yrs I would like to see myself in a leadership position or an educator, I would like to stay within my scope of study in respiratory care. As a therapist we see the stunning recovery of patients from a traumatic accident to walking out of rehab. In health care you see patients get a second chance in life. After taking the Focus2 self-assessment my interest profile suggests I work in a social environment because, I enjoy helping people or enterprising suggesting I am ambitious and like to take initiative. As a hopeful future undergraduate at IUPUI, I am eager to participate in the nursing program. Currently I am taking a class at my high school that will allow me to become a certified nursing assistant if I pass the state exam. Although I have only started this school year, I can tell that I have found my passion through nursing. With this simple goal, I plan to focus on my school work and dedicate my time at IUPUI. Besides the school aspect, I also want to participate in numerous extracurricular activities offered.
My family consist one big sister and little brother. I 'm hardworking being part in multiple clubs and sports such as, National Honor Society, Youth Council of Laredo, the Football team and in a basketball team in the spurs league. Being in these clubs and sports showed me to be dedicated, hardworking, adapt, time management, team work, and most importantly help out the community. I have a special bond with my mom, she 's there when I need her. What I want to be when I grow up is become a surgeon.
It was difficult getting to where I am currently with trying to understand who I was? And who I am? Why I was going through what I was going through? How to understand and interpret what felt almost alien. It wasn’t until after getting into the University of South Carolina as a Biology major that I knew that that wasn’t what I was meant to be doing.
I would like to be apart of ASB because I’m interested in helping Medea be the best school it can be. I always like to learn new things and I will appreciate new experiences learning from seventh and eighth graders. I am responsible and I am excited for my leadership skills to be tested. Also, I will gain more responsibility and learn more leadership skills throughout my time in ASB. As part of ASB, I will be able to work with other students who have similar interests and want to be fellow leaders at Medea.
I have worked so hard in school waiting for a moment like this. UNCW would be a great challenge for me, but it would also help me out immensely. UNCW has a excellent education program and that is exactly the field of study I aim to go into. I spent approximately half of my sophomore year at the early college tutoring at Dobson Elementary. When considering the nature of my academic upbringing, science has played a significant role in both my personal and scholastic development. Khabele was completely different from Westlake. I feel like I have learned more valuable knowledge in the three years at Khabele than I have the 10 years I was in the Eanes Independent School District. I have developed a better understanding of the world and a better understanding of myself. I am interested in getting a minor in Merchandising. This degree exposes the developmental and analytical part of the fashion world.
