For my essay, I am going to write about how "Unplugged: The Myth of Computers in the Classroom" by David Gelernter relates to my life as a student. As time goes on computers become more prominent in schools, but how long will it be until computers end up becoming the new teacher? Computers now-a-days are finding their way into all the classrooms across the country. You probably could walk into each school and find at least one computer in each classroom. That is how my school was and hence every other school is today.

Throughout all of my years in school I couldn't tell you of a time where I would find myself without access to a computer in school. The computers where popping up everywhere, from music class even to art class, it seemed like computers where always around. Even during recess there was the option to stay inside and play on the computer at my school. There would be days where it was beautiful outside and I decided instead to stay inside and play on the computer. I'm not going to deny that having that many computers at your disposal was amazing, yet at the same time I can't help but look back and realize that so many kids where becoming self-reliant on computers including myself. …show more content…

Of course, I signed up for the program and I got to keep a Macbook pro for all of Middle school and my first year of High school. The computer was very helpful at times but also very problematic with all the students that used them including me. Students started to figure out how to download games onto the laptops and I can't tell you how many games I had on that laptop but I know that it didn't help the fact that I was more focused on games then work. When I did do my work though they helped me out so much that I think sometimes that I owe my success to that laptop. After the laptop program was done is when the real problem started to kick
