1. The CFO of UPS shows his side of what he believes the company’s sustainability is. He relates his statement “That companies have a responsibility to contribute to society and the environment and that every investment that a company makes show return value to the business,” to the triple bottom line because it shows that he passionate about not only his company but also about the people, planet, and profit. UPS has established a what they call a five-step approach that will give them what they think is sustainability and balance. These five things are assessing your strength, choice your spots, find momentum, build productive partnerships, and convene other sources of strength. There are both internal and external stakeholders that are both affected positively and negatively. These are the people that are keeping the company up and going and are always going to be affected in some way by the company’s decisions. The positive side of the internal stakeholders are they are able to contribute their strength and use their resources in capital, experience, relationships, physical assets and others to help their organizations and contribute to the society. This not only makes them feel empowered but also shows people that they care. The negative side of the internal stakeholders is that not everyone is able to be helped. This means that if someone in the company wants to help a specific person or organization this may not be feasible to the company because it might not meet their five step approach. The positive effect on external stakeholders can be seen when the company goes out of their way to improve the environment and the community because it shows that someone like UPS is responsible and can make a big difference. The negative effect on an external stakeholder might be one that could affect business to the company due to someone not seeing a cause they are passionate about being supported by
