Today I will talking to you about the isotope called uranium 235. Before we start you might be wondering what is an isotope. An isotope is an atom. All isotope should have the same number of protons, but they should all have different number of neutrons. For example the isotope called Carbon 12 has 6 protons and 6 neutrons, the other isotope call Carbon 13 has 6 protons and 7 neutrons. Basically, uranium 235 is a type of isotope for the element called uranium. Uranium 235 makes up 0.72% of all natural uranium. Uranium 235 was on this earth along time ago, around 703 million years ago. In 1935 it was discovered by someone that goes by the name Arthur Jeffrey Dempster. Uranium 235 has a lot of protons and neutrons. It has 143 neutron and 92 protons. Its atomic mass number is in its name which is 235. Its atomic number is 92. Uranium gives a lot of energy which then can be used for electricity. In the us(United States of America) there are a lot of nuclear plants, so a lot of electricity is needed, so that’s where uranium 235's role comes in handy. It's helped the u.s.a a lot and they use uranium 235 a lot nowadays for nuclear plants, weapons. If you want uranium to work and …show more content…
The good side about it is that it helps a country defend itself during a matter of conflict such as a war. For example if a certain country had a conflict with another country which lead to war, then they can use their nuclear weapons to defend themselves against their opposition. But the bad part is that it can affect the nation because it might so serious to the point were on country might drop a nuclear bomb on their opposition and will destroy the nation and kills so many innocent civilians, but the good part is that mostly all countries agreed on not using these nuclear bombs that is made by uranium and uranium 235 because if they drop one nuclear bomb on a country it will either destroy a big part of it or even all of
