The Atomic Bomb
There are some inventions that helped shape the entirety of the world, however then their are some inventions that changed the world forever. The invention of the Atomic bomb has saved many nations as well as destroying just as many in its wake. The bomb has positives as well as negatives, it is also the greatest weapon ever produced. The creation of the atomic bomb had a positive change, demise of nations, and the twentieth century was changed for ever.
The atomic bomb with great criticism has positive change in the world depending on how it is viewed. For instance in 1944 during World War II Japan was not going to stop fighting until every last one of them were dead, America was trying to save their men from dying and in order to preserve their forces, they decided to drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing over 300,000 (Nash). While it seems like a drastic measure, it might have saved a million American lives. On the flip side, an alternate fuel source has been created in nuclear energy (O’Hara).This will aid humans in its hunt to preserve the little oil and fossil fuels it has left. Along with that comes many casualties. Poor Japan is still recovering from a bomb dropped over seventy years ago (Team). There is also the topic of radiation, this has serious long term side effects and is still killing people in Japan many years later. Radiation also makes certain areas inaccessible to this day. Radiation takes thousands of years to decay fully. When countries drop bombs other countries get mad and want to retaliate and this causes tension between nations, and history has taught us that tension leads to war.
